According to sources, the ex-partner of Badr Hari officially filed a report on Monday morning for multiple instances of assault. She had previously been in contact with the police but, for various reasons, did not dare to file a report at the time. The recent assault allegedly took place on Sunday afternoon and may have been captured on camera. Her lawyer declined to comment further.
Previous convictions
This is not the first time Badr Hari has been in the spotlight for violent incidents. In 2012, he was convicted of the severe assault of businessman Koen Everink during Sensation White at the Amsterdam ArenA. Experts compared the blows and kicks Everink received at the time to the impact of a horse’s kick or a car crash. On appeal, Hari received a two-year prison sentence, ten months of which were suspended.
Additionally, he was convicted of multiple assaults and attempted assaults in Amsterdam’s nightlife, including an incident at the club Jimmy Woo. During the trial regarding Everink’s assault, allegations of domestic violence also surfaced, including against an ex-girlfriend. Despite the fact that she did not file a report, the case was addressed based on text messages in which she spoke about the abuse.
Relationship issues
Hari married Daphne, a former model, in 2016, with whom he had five children. Their marriage came under strain following rumors of an affair between Hari and a nanny. The subsequent turbulent divorce was reportedly accompanied by physical violence.
Future in the sport
Badr Hari is a former world champion in K-1 and It’s Showtime and was long regarded as one of the biggest names in the kickboxing world. He fought multiple times for Glory, including matches against Rico Verhoeven in 2016 and 2019, both of which he lost. Since then, he has not won a fight. His last appearance in the ring was in October 2023, and despite speculation about a comeback, his sporting future remains uncertain.
The police are still investigating the case, and it remains unclear what legal steps will follow.
