Dustin Poirier has called out Nate Diaz to re-sign with the UFC so that he could face him in the Octagon. At UFC 279, Diaz defeated Tony Ferguson to finish his UFC contract. Khamzat Chimaev, who failed to make weight for the contest, was supposed to fight him.

“Come back for 1 fight and I’ll beat the shit outta you bruh [Nate Diaz],” Poirier tweeted.

The fight between Diaz and Poirier that was supposed to take place at UFC 230 never happened. Although Poirier is said to have been hurt in camp, both sides have accused the other of avoiding the fight.

The bout between Poirier and Diaz was rumoured again to happen throughout 2022, but it never happened. After Diaz declined to re-sign with the promotion, Poirier was forced to face Chandler.

It's possible that Diaz may eventually sign a new contract with the UFC. He has said that after pursuing other opportunities, such as a potential boxing battle with Jake Paul, he would eventually return to the Octagon.

Poirier is about to get another chance at the title, perhaps against the victor of the contest between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski. He still believes that he has unfinished business with Diaz in the interim.
