Misfits Boxing is apparently in talks with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Since winning by decision over Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 last year, "The Predator" has been sidelined. He probably wouldn't have fought for the rest of 2022 because of his injury. Ngannou talked about his conflicts with Dana White and the UFC brass before and after the fight.
The heavyweight champion's contract was also set to expire at the end of the year. Francis Ngannou made the decision to reject a $8 million offer from the UFC earlier this month in favour of signing with another company.
The UFC swiftly scheduled Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane to compete for the vacant heavyweight championship in March.
Ngannou, on the other hand, has nothing scheduled and it's unclear where he'll sign. He did make his intentions to fight known earlier this week, possibly in his boxing debut, but there was no formal announcement.
Also, there has reports that a fight between Ngannou and Chisora is in the works. In a recent interview with Pro Boxing Fans, veteran boxing promoter Kalle Sauerland talked about the signing and acknowledged that the two parties have previously spoken.
“I’d love to sign him, I think he’d fit perfectly in with our crossover stuff with Misfits,” stated Sauerland in a recent interview regarding Francis Ngannou. “We can build him on there, bring over Derek Chisora, a big fight like that you know? There’s a lot of good fights for him.”
Chisora presently has a 33-13 record in professional boxing after being stopped most recently by Tyson Fury in December.
Misfits Boxing is the well-known crossover boxing event that KSI launched last year. The company has held professional matchups in the past, even though influencers are typically included.
