Michael Chandler interested in fighting Jorge Masvidal
Michael Chandler wants to face Jorge Masvidal for the BMF title. At UFC 281, Chandler gave another electrifying performance in a back-and-forth battle with Dustin Poirier, which "The Diamond" won.
Michael Chandler is very interested in fighting Conor McGregor, but he is aware that there are many potential roadblocks, not the least of which is the Irishman will have to re-enter the USADA testing pool before competing again. The former Bellator champion has been pondering his options in light of that.
He revealed the following in an interview with Brett Okamoto of ESPN MMA regarding his interests outside of competing against Conor McGregor:
“You tell me who the BMF is. You tell me who the fans if we did a poll right now, who’s the baddest mother fudger in the UFC? I got a couple awards on my mantle right now. I think I’ll add a couple more. Possibly knockout of the year. Possibly fight of the year of 2023, but that BMF belt sure would look good next em.”
He added: “Is it a fight that I’ve really thought about a ton in the past? Not really, but tell me that wouldn’t get the juices flowing of the entire mixed martial arts world. Michael Chandler vs. Jorge Masvidal for the BMF belt. The Rock walking in with it over his shoulder and then handing it to me 15 minutes later.”
It's worth mentioning that UFC officials have indicated that the BMF championship may be up for grabs again if the proper fight comes up for the first time since The Rock strapped the belt around Masvidal's waist after his win over Nate Diaz.
