Glory currently has a bit of a problem that most of their champions are too good. Petch, Beztati, Semeleer, Wisse and Verhoeven all have a long winning streak by now and then it becomes harder to find new opponents. They have all fought most of the fighters in their division before. New challengers then have to come from outside or they have to win a few matches within Glory first. Problem is that Glory now puts fighters who have already won 2 or 3 times against the champion, most of them are then not ready at all and if they lose then they lose their serious title shot. Now also with Kwasi and Bokeme, both of them would have preferred 2 more wins and experience and then they were the real challenger. But the current champions (other than Rico) also want to fight at least 2 times a year and then you can't wait for fighters who come slowly.
If 1 of those champions loses somewhere then you immediately have another very nice open division with a lot of possible new match-ups for the titles. Until then, Glory will unfortunately have no choice but to give fighters a title shot too early or attract fighters from outside.
I have hope that the GPs will continue and the current champions will participate because then you immediately get a whole different dynamic. Toppers fight more often and you then have the chance that a sitting champion loses, which immediately brings a lot of story to the division.
Glory should shake up the rankings. Win twice and you're number 2 or 3 (or even 1) in the rankings and you get a title shot. Indeed, most are allowed to fight more often before they are immediately put up against the champion, but also Rico should fight a little more.... There were plenty of guys ready to take on him, but Rico only wants to fight once a year, that doesn't make sense. Where is your fighting spirit? The other champions are there more often, and other heavyweights are also willing to fight more often. If you will only fight 1x a year and also not take serious fights, you will hold that belt for years (unfairly) while others are fighting harder for it right now (Plazi, Levi, Jamal)
Everyone already knows that Bokeme is hopeless. And totally not ready for a title shot. It is just bad of Glory that they throw guys for the title who are not even ready for it. With all due respect I think Bokeme is a tough strong fighter. Only he is getting a title shot based on his win over Serkan. i would have rather seen Bokeme vs Hadar, Hamicha, Touchassie or rematch against Boapeah next event. Winner of Bokeme vs opponent should have only gone for a titleshot against Wisse as far as I am concerned.
Yes totally agree. Only then Wisse is without a fight for a very long time and he would also want to fight. It is a difficult situation for Glory.
I think the match between Abena and Khbabez should NOT be overturned. It is indeed the rule that a coach should not step into the ring during the match, but this was a special case. Indeed, Abena struck out when the referee called stop. Khbabez could also have stayed on the ground which would have given him the match to his name as well. So the cause in this case lies with Abena, and not with Mike, as he wanted to protect his fighter.

A defending champion always has to show why he/she is the champion. Real Madrid is also not going to defend with 10 men and hope for a counter goal only to narrowly win 1-0. At least, if they did then they would never be seen as one of the greatest soccer clubs in soccer history. No they always try to dominate, and represent soccer at the very highest level.
And I think the same is true in martial arts. A true champion, wants to dominate every match and show her/his opponent who is the very best. You don't do that by walking backwards and tapping.
