Nice to see Strijkert connecting for once. Gives a nice picture of the other side of the sport.
Nice episode again!
That Glory puts matches on the maincard rather than in the prelims from a "commercial" standpoint, there is something to be said for that.
If this is tactic, precisely to reach the fighter's supporters cq home country in order to increase Glory's own exposure in that country then this still does not explain why they put Ciric vs Hristov in the prelims. So the thought cq execution behind it is too shaky. The same goes for putting Hammouche on the maincard purely for the sake of ticket sales.
You would say that from a "commercial" point of view you would have a greater reach on youtube, because it is free to enter and you want to attract the public to the venue through spectacular matches on the main card and therefore in this case it would have been better to have Iancu vs Laïdouni in the prelims.
Commercially, nobody buys a ticket to sit in the Gelredome for Iancu vs. Laïdouni. And given the capacity of the Gelredome, that's exactly what you would want to draw a full house.
I personally think putting ranked fighters in the prelims vs unranked fighters ( Laïdouni ) on the maincard is just an ordinary penny question and Glory saves money by putting "expensive" maincard fighters in the prelims ( these are cheaper ) and an unranked fighter on the maincard is cheap too. So a win/win situation, given Glory's lack of vision it seems strong to me that they are working to gain a foothold abroad.
I should have known this earlier, because I did have a question for Edward.
Indeed, I was curious how Edward views the inconsistency of especially the other referees at Glory.
Surely we have seen quite a few games where, among other things, clinching is fairly frequent and there are constant warnings that clinching is not allowed, but a consequence almost never follows.
In my view, this has too negative an effect on the party and the outcome.
And following on from that a fighter ( Rico ) forcing a penalty for his opponent ( Khachab ), is it allowed/should a fighter be able to pressure the ref to give the opponent a point deduction?
Teo's analyses are again on point.
Chico is just super tall and has long limbs and wins his games that way.... If he didn't have this physical advantage he would be getting suits from everyone. The guy can start singing a tone lower and showing respect...and maybe he should start gaining weight and fighting at a higher weight with that talk of his. Then he'll also meet guys his own height, then we'll find out what kind of wood he's cut from. Now he's just kind of sitting from his cover looking for moments to poke with those extend arms of his... let him test himself against a higher weight.
