No more eating during the show man. Can't man.
Joo Marinho & Remy,
About that Christmas show/end of the year show, if you guys arrange it, maybe it would be nice if you guys on behalf of warriorcode declare a (Glory) fighter of the year and (Glory) party of the year and then highlight them a little bit. And maybe those fighters in the show?
Enjoyed the very first live show, of course things could be better but you can already learn a lot from such a first show.
Ps. I had bought a ticket for the live, but I would have liked to donate a small amount as well, do you guys have a donation link or something?
Nice idea!
Remy makes those syrup waffles broko 😂😂
Remy and Marinho,
According to reports, things are rumbling behind the scenes at Glory, fighters are dissatisfied with what they deserve. A sponsor ( Unibet ) who is forced to withdraw because of a change in the law, a dissatisfied Videoland where the cooperation is about to collapse and no concrete plans for 2025!
Was Glory right to give a person like Zelaznik a chance to refloat the ship? Shouldn't there just have been a Dutch CEO, with experience with the Dutch cq European media and who knows the martial arts and should have been given a free hand by Rudmann/Andurand?
In my opinion, Glory is not concerned enough with what the fans of the sport would like to see, but more with what mainstream fans would like to see and apparently what they themselves prefer to see. And does one particular fighter have too thick a finger in the pie ( Rico ).
Now with Collision approaching, we can safely say that for now it seems to be heading for a deception. Parties worthy of maincard, to the prelims. A main event that should really be the warm-up of the evening in the prelims, and a co main event where the fire is now pretty much extinguished as well, at least if we go off of the press conference. I've been to funerals where things were livelier!
Glory went pretty wrong by suspending Jamal after that kick while Rico challenged and by promising a new ranking shortly after the heavyweight tournament but then leaving everything as it was.
Is Glory viable if they are going to repeat what they did in 2024 in 2025? I personally feel strongly that Glory is in an artificial coma and that the plug could be pulled at any moment.....
I've been wondering for a while how Glory can continue to exist without a clear vision. Where other martial arts organizations would be happy with these small upsets (so would Tarik Abena), Glory tries to keep everyone "clean" for the mainstream audience. I get that you want to grow as an organization, but do you really need to be with the mainstream audience for this? Those are ultimately not the people who buy tickets and as soon as they do for the "neat" matches, the real fans drop out and you as Glory also have a problem
The group of martial arts fans is too small to fill the Gelredome, you need the group of mainstream fans to supplement that. However, you then need to create a "crowd pleaser" that draws people to the venue and appeals to both groups.
And with all due respect, Verhoeven is not such a crowd pleaser because fans of the sport mostly ignore Rico. I honestly think Glory just lives from event to event and doesn't look beyond that! Besides sensation is punished within Glory, Jamal's kick = suspension, Kromah's party = warning. And from this it is clear that the so-called entertaining part consists of disgusting promos with Verhoeven and Rigters to sell tickets for a party that actually nobody wants to see at all. Or rather not worthy of a main party!
As for the vision in March they called for a new ranking and a completely different system, so far nothing has come of it. I think the heavyweight ranking was the same until recently, when Glory found it necessary to suddenly put Osaro in the top 3 after his match against Horta. And that's pretty clever when someone rises by fighting an unranked fighter but rises on a win. So then Jamal could basically thunder into the top 3 for the foreseeable future as well.
Rudmann/Andurand are relatively invisible and mostly not even in the hall at an event. Apparently they are again at the Gelredome, because that venue is big enough to fill with the egos of Verhoeven, Rudmann and Andurand.
I also totally don't understand who "scouts" these heavyweights at glory. Tok, Khachab, Laidouni, Iancu, Filipovic, Horta. I can't help but think it's a money issue. And often these guys are on the Maincard. Glory is self-destructing its heavyweight division. You can put that division "on hold. Occasionally put a match on the card that the public wants. Eg a Levi vs Jamal. Or a Plazibat vs Jamal. But otherwise that division has long since ceased to have any significance.
