In a big flurry of news announcements, Glory just announced a new broadcasting deal with DAZN, and the next title defence of reigning heayweight world champion Rico Verhoeven. Earlier today the kickboxing promotion announced an exclusive invite only event in Miami, jointly organized with sports media company Betr, owned by Jake Paul.
Rico Verhoeven will defend his title for the 13th time on June 14th, during the celebratory event Glory 100. His opponent has not yet been announced, though in an interview with The Ariel Helwani Show Verhoeven has said he never fought him before. "This opponent looks like I'm looking in the mirror. He reflects many of my own strengths. I think this is one of the most formidable opponents I've had in ages."
As for the DAZN deal, Glory 100 as well as Glory's Last Heavyweight Standing tournament will be streamed exclusively on DAZN, beginning with GLORY 99 on April 5. The tournament will feature 32 heavyweight fighters, including stars like Jamal Ben Saddik and Ionut Iancu, as well as rising talents such as Rade Opačić and Nathan Cook. The competition will unfold over multiple events, culminating in a high-stakes, eight-man, one-night finale at the end of the year.
Glory CEO Marshall Zelaznik stated, “DAZN has become the place for marquee combat sports events, and we are happy to place Glory alongside them. This tournament will showcase the absolute best & most exciting series in kickboxing.” Similarly, DAZN CEO Shay Segev said, “DAZN and Glory have a shared ambition to showcase star-studded kickboxing talent, and this partnership heralds an exciting addition to DAZN’s platform.”
In addition to live coverage, fans will be able to access past GLORY events and exclusive content on DAZN.
