Jamahal Hill (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) won the UFC light heavyweight title by unanimous decision over Glover Teixeira (33-9 MMA, 16-7 UFC). The judges gave the fight 50-44, 50-44, 50-44 to Teixerira.

Many people were shocked when Jamahal Hill was revealed as a contender for the vacant UFC light heavyweight title. Hill is ranked seventh in the UFC's light heavyweight division. But Hill was sure of his own skills and wanted to show why he was the right choice and he did.

Hill dominated the entire fight. The Chicago-born fighter overpowered Teixeira, who was helpless and at one point suffered a serious cut above his eye, with head kicks and rapid shots to the face. Teixeira, who typically relies heavily on takedowns, struggled against Hill's excellent takedown defence, landing just two of his 17 attempts.

To stop Teixeira's momentum, Hill employed every tool at his disposal. He successfully executed elbows, double-jabs, uppercuts, head kicks, gut-punches, and ground-based blows. Teixeira, who fought slowly but with a powerful chin and soul, was attacked with everything but the kitchen sink.

Hill connected on 248 of 419 shots, while Teixeira connected on 108 of 196. The former is now on a streak of four victories.

Teixeira ended his career (33-9) after the fight. His career began in 2002.

"From where I came from, to get to this, this is unreal," Hill stated. "Thank you! Anything is possible. Hard work, dedication, accountability. Don't let nobody tell you nothing. Too many people said I couldn't do it. It was impossible. I needed to win in one round, I couldn't go five. What the f--- you gotta say now?"
